Kazakhstan is moving to extend its ban on the export of key petroleum products through May 22, 2027, as the government seeks to safeguard domestic fuel supplies and strengthen energy security.
According to a draft order prepared by the Ministry of Energy, the restrictions would apply to the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and several other petroleum products by both road and rail from November 22, 2026, to May 22, 2027. The ban would also cover shipments to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
The ministry also proposes a separate export ban from January 1 to June 30, 2027, covering light distillates, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, gas oils, toluene, xylene, and petroleum bitumen outside the EAEU customs territory.
While the restrictions are expected to remain in place for six months, the draft includes exemptions for humanitarian aid and exports authorized by the Government of Kazakhstan.
