Kazakhstan plans to expand its jet fuel production capacity by 2030, Minister of Energy Erlan Akkenzhenov said at a government press conference on November 4, 2026.
Akkenzhenov acknowledged that Kazakhstan currently faces a shortage of jet fuel, with approximately 25% of its required volume imported from abroad, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
The ministry intends to address the issue by modernising the country's three existing oil refineries and constructing a new facility.
"Work is currently underway to expand the capacity of a mini-refinery in the west of the country. Its modernization, set for completion by the middle of next year, will yield an additional 100,000 tons of kerosene. By 2030, the country will have the capacity to produce an extra 1.5 million tons of jet fuel. This is part of the full scope of projects we plan to implement-which includes the modernization of the mini-refinery and the three main refineries, as well as the construction of a fourth plant," he stated.
The minister assured that there are currently no restrictions or shortages of jet fuel in the country.
