Kazakhstan Faces Fog, Snow as Arctic Cold Approaches

Kazakhstan is set for patchy fog, black ice, and snow over the next three days.

Meteorologists say unstable weather will affect much of the country as atmospheric fronts bring rain and snow, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Blowing snow is expected in northern, eastern, and central regions, with fog and ice slicks forecast nationwide. By the end of the period, an Arctic anticyclone moving from Novaya Zemlya toward western Kazakhstan will bring a sharp drop in temperatures.

On December 8, temperatures may fall to -5…-13°C in the northwest and -10…-15°C in the north, with colder weather expected afterward. Meanwhile, winter flowering of the red-listed Alatau crocus was recently observed near Almaty.
