During his official visit to Italy, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev has met with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu to explore new avenues for cooperation, including the potential launch of a second partnership program focused on water resource management.
At the meeting, Kosherbayev congratulated Qu Dongyu on the FAO’s 80th anniversary, emphasizing the Organization’s crucial role in promoting global food security and sustainable agricultural development, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
The Kazakh foreign minister highlighted the successful progress of joint initiatives under the current Kazakhstan-FAO Partnership Program and expressed Kazakhstan’s eagerness to expand cooperation further.
The visit also featured the official opening of the “Kazakhstan” Room at FAO Headquarters-a multifunctional space accessible to all member states and the Organization’s Secretariat.
Speaking at the inauguration, Kosherbayev called the event a landmark moment in the longstanding and fruitful relationship between Kazakhstan and FAO, which has been ongoing since Kazakhstan joined the Organization in 1997.
“In recent years, our partnership with FAO, especially through the Kazakhstan-FAO Partnership Program, has fostered broad cooperation across vital sectors. The opening of this room symbolizes our firm commitment to shared goals and the spirit of multilateral cooperation,” Kosherbayev said.
In addition, Kazakhstan and the FAO are discussing efforts to promote the Almaty Aport apple as a national brand, further highlighting Kazakhstan’s rich agricultural heritage on the global stage.
