Kazakhstan, Japan Sign 14 Key Agreements

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi have issued a joint statement following high-level talks in Tokyo.

During the visit, members of the official delegations signed 14 intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents, marking a significant step in Kazakhstan-Japan cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

President Tokayev, who arrived in Japan on December 17, previously held talks with Emperor Naruhito, highlighting the historical inspiration Japan has provided Kazakhstan through its discipline and resilience.

The visit included a ceremonial welcome at the Prime Minister’s Office, a visit to Meiji Jingu Shrine, and meetings with Kazakh citizens studying or working in Japan. Tokayev also met members of the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Kazakhstan, led by Toshiaki Endo.

Takaichi emphasized Japan views Kazakhstan as a strategic partner in promoting a free and open international order based on the rule of law.
