President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced the creation of a new public position: Family Ombudsman.
The announcement was made during the president’s International Women’s Day address on March 8, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
“I am confident that establishing a Family Ombudsman will strengthen human rights protection and support the family institution,” Tokayev said.
The new ombudsman will operate within the National Commission on Women and Family-Demographic Policy under the president, serving as deputy chair and reporting regularly to the head of state.
