Kazakhstan has retained its position among the world’s top military powers, ranking 58th out of 145 countries in the 2026 Global Firepower index.
According to the latest rankings, Kazakhstan’s Power Index score stands at 1.0433, with lower scores indicating stronger military capability. The country also recorded the highest military spending per capita in Central Asia, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
The ranking places the United States first globally with a score of 0.0741, followed by Russia and China. Other countries in the global top 10 include India, South Korea, France, Japan, Türkiye, Italy, and Brazil.
Kazakhstan’s defense budget totals approximately $5.8 billion, equivalent to around $284 per person annually - the highest level in the region. By comparison, military spending per capita stands at $209 in Turkmenistan, $162 in Uzbekistan, $88 in Kyrgyzstan, and $42 in Tajikistan.
The Global Firepower index evaluates military strength using more than 60 indicators, including troop numbers, financial resources, logistical capabilities, geography, equipment, and economic resilience.
