A long-haul international flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Kazakhstan after a medical incident onboard.
The aircraft, operated by SWISS International Air Lines, was flying from Seoul to Zurich when it diverted to Almaty International Airport, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
The Airbus A350 declared an emergency while flying over Kazakhstan after the co-pilot’s health suddenly deteriorated.
On May 6, 2026, at 12:48 (GMT+5), the aircraft made a safe emergency landing in Almaty after the second pilot reportedly experienced symptoms consistent with an acute abdominal condition.
Medical teams were immediately deployed upon landing. The pilot was transported to City Hospital No. 4 in Almaty for examination and further treatment.
The emergency landing was handled in coordination with aviation and medical services, ensuring the safety of passengers and crew.
