Kazakhstan and Japan are moving to strengthen investment and industrial cooperation, with both sides focusing on the implementation of major agreements reached during Kazakhstan’s presidential visit to Tokyo.

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Construction Yersaiyn Nagaspayev held talks with Japan’s Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kenji Yamada, according to Qazinform.

Particular attention was given to agreements reached during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Japan in December 2025. During the visit, 60 commercial agreements worth more than $3.7 billion were signed, including projects designed to introduce advanced Japanese technologies and solutions into Kazakhstan’s industrial sector.

“Kazakhstan highly values its strategic partnership with Japan. In recent years, our relations in the areas of economy, industry and investment have strengthened significantly. Currently, 17 joint projects worth around $940 million are being implemented within the framework of industrial cooperation, of which 10 projects have already been successfully commissioned. New areas of cooperation are also being actively explored. We are ready to provide comprehensive assistance and support for the implementation of all investment projects,” Nagaspayev said.

The minister also highlighted the importance of the ninth meeting of the Kazakhstan-Japan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which is scheduled to be held in Astana in December 2026.

The meeting concluded with agreements to further expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in investment and industrial development.
