Kazakhstan is set to gain a new air link with Singapore, as SCAT Airlines prepares to launch twice-weekly flights from Shymkent to Singapore via Sanya, China, starting October 20.

The new route will operate under the Fifth Freedom of the Air, allowing SCAT Airlines to carry passengers not only between Kazakhstan and Singapore but also between China and Singapore.

The new connection is expected to strengthen tourism, investment and business ties while enhancing Kazakhstan’s position as an emerging transit hub in Central Asia.

The launch also comes as Kazakhstan continues to expand its international air connectivity. Chinese cargo carrier China Central Longhao plans to begin operating through Astana Airport, with four weekly services using Boeing 747-400F freighters.
