Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has officially registered 145 deputies of the Qurultay, the country’s new unicameral parliament, with their parliamentary mandates taking effect on August 27.

The registration was completed during the CEC’s 16th meeting, marking a key step in the formation of Kazakhstan’s new legislative body, Kazinform reports.

CEC Chairman Nurlan Abdirov said that, under Kazakhstan’s constitutional law, a deputy’s powers officially begin from the moment they are registered by the Central Election Commission.

The newly registered lawmakers received official certificates and badges confirming their status as members of the Qurultay.

Abdirov stressed that the deputies were elected through direct suffrage and that the entire election campaign was conducted in accordance with national legislation.

He also described the parliamentary mandate as a reflection of the people’s trust and choice, emphasizing the responsibility placed on the newly elected deputies toward the country and its citizens.

Five political parties secured seats in the Qurultay following the August 23 election. Adilet received 110 mandates, followed by Auyl with 10, Respublica with nine, while the Nationwide Social Democratic Party and Ak Zhol each received eight seats.
