Kazakhstan is stepping up efforts to modernize its tourism sector after completing a nationwide inventory of eight major resort areas in 2025.
Tourism and Sports Minister Yerbol Myrzabosynov announced that the review has already produced tangible results, including a draft roadmap for the development of resort zones for 2025-2028, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The minister noted that the roadmap is designed to guide long-term upgrades across key destinations, focusing on infrastructure renewal, safety improvements, and better logistics. In parallel, Kazakhstan approved comprehensive development plans for two flagship destinations: the Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort area and the Mangystau tourist zone. The Mangystau plan covers the period from 2025 to 2029.
These initiatives aim to systematically modernize resort facilities, enhance visitor safety standards, and expand tourism services, making Kazakhstan’s destinations more competitive and attractive.
Kazakhstan’s resorts welcomed 3.8 million visitors in the first nine months, highlighting growing demand and the need for sustained development across the country’s tourism hubs.
