Kazakhstan’s Almaty regional education department has announced that more than 35,000 children will begin their studies in the upcoming academic year, marking a significant step forward for the region’s education sector.
To accommodate the growing number of pupils, 11 new schools will open their doors across the region at the start of the school year, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.
These include four schools in Yenbekshi district, three in Talgar district, two in Ili district, and one in Zhambyl district.
During the 2024-2025 school year, the Almaty region was home to 437 public and 47 private schools, with 352,000 pupils graduating from public schools and 16,253 from private schools. The total number of pupils in the region increased by 11,059 compared to the previous year, reflecting a steady rise in demand for education.
For the 2025-2026 academic year, approximately 35,500 children are expected to enroll, with nearly 26,000 registering through the region’s electronic school application system, highlighting the growing digitalization of school admissions.
Meanwhile, neighboring Kyzylorda region is also preparing for the new school year, with four new schools set to open on September 1.
