Kazakhstan's Almaty city is set to unveil a major new leisure and entertainment destination, complete with an aquarium, butterfly museum, amphitheater, and scenic waterfront canal, as the city moves forward with an ambitious urban development project.

The new complex will cover more than 27 hectares in the Alatau District, between Baurzhan Momyshuly and Sain streets. Construction is scheduled for 2026-2027, The Caspian Post reports via Zakon.kz.

At the heart of the project will be a picturesque water canal lined with walking promenades, green spaces, and public gathering areas. Officials envision the development as a vibrant new landmark that will attract both residents and tourists while enhancing the city's recreational infrastructure.

Family-friendly attractions will play a central role in the project. Plans include a large children's entertainment center, a modern aquarium showcasing marine life, and a butterfly museum designed to offer educational and interactive experiences for visitors of all ages.

One of the most striking features of the complex will be a landmark observation tower. The structure will include a panoramic viewing platform offering sweeping views of Almaty, the surrounding parkland, and the city's skyline.
