Kazakhstan Unveils Its Most Popular Baby Names of 2025

Kazakh parents stayed true to familiar traditions in 2025, as the National Statistics Bureau revealed the most popular baby names chosen across the country.

For newborn boys, Mukhammad, Alikhan, Aisultan, Omar, and Aldiyar once again topped the list, unchanged from last year. Regionally, Mukhammad and Alan were the most frequently registered names for boys, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Among girls, the leading names in 2025 were Aylin, Asylym, Medina, Aisha, and Tomiris. Aylin emerged as the clear favorite, ranking first in 16 of Kazakhstan’s 20 regions. As with boys’ names, the list of the most popular girls’ names remained the same as in 2024.

The data also highlighted naming trends among ethnic groups: Eva and Miron were the most common choices among Russian families, while Muhammad and Khadicha led among Uzbek parents.

A baby boom was on December 16, Kazakhstan’s Independence Day, when 725 children were born nationwide.
