A tense incident in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, has gone viral after footage showed several men detaining a young man in the Chapaevka district, raising questions online about whether it was a kidnapping or an official operation.
In the video, individuals exit an unmarked vehicle, chase the man as he tries to flee, tackle him to the ground, and take him away-scenes that initially led to widespread speculation about an abduction, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
However, local reports indicate the situation was linked to a conscription enforcement raid conducted by local authorities targeting draft evaders.
The young man attempted to run upon seeing the officers, fell during the chase, and was later taken to a recruitment point for clarification. He subsequently underwent a medical examination and was found fit for military service.
He had previously been served official draft notices, making the procedure lawful. The young man also recorded a video message confirming he had no complaints regarding the actions of officials.
Police added that no formal complaints or reports of abduction have been filed in connection with the incident.
