Mine Explosion Injures Worker in Kazakhstan’s Kostanay

An explosion at a mine in Kostanay region, Kazakhstan has injured a worker.

The incident occurred at the Sokolov-Sarbai Mining and Processing Plant, part of the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

According to the company, the worker, a scraper winch operator, was injured during operations to remove oversized ore blocks using explosives, when an uncontrolled blast occurred. The injured employee is receiving medical care at the city hospital, and an investigation is underway.

The police have launched a criminal case under the article “Violation of Occupational Safety Rules.” Authorities confirmed that a pre-trial investigation is ongoing, all circumstances are being established, and a legal assessment will be given based on the findings.
