A surprising incident involving a passenger aircraft has been reported in Kazakhstan after a plane struck a dog during landing at an airport runway.

The aircraft, operated by FlyArystan, was arriving on a scheduled flight from Almaty to Shymkent when the animal reportedly appeared on the runway, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

According to the airline, several components of the aircraft were damaged as a result of the impact. Replacement parts are being transported from Almaty.

A full investigation has been launched to determine how the animal entered the runway and to assess safety procedures at the airport.
