Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has said that Russia became the largest investor in Kazakhstan’s economy, with total Russian investment reaching nearly $30 billion.
Tokayev made the remarks during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Omsk, The Caspian Post reports via Interfax.
“We are very large trading partners. In 2025, trade turnover amounted to about $28 billion, and the trend this year is extremely positive. Compared with the first five months of 2025, the first five months of this year showed strong growth in mutual trade. As for investment, Russia is moving into first place among investors in our economy. The volume of investment has reached nearly $30 billion,” Tokayev said.
The Kazakh leader also highlighted growing industrial cooperation between the two countries. Tokayev said that Kazakhstan and Russia have identified 177 promising industrial projects, with 122 already completed.
“The total value of these 177 projects is $53 billion. This is a significant volume, given the difficult geopolitical conditions of the present time,” he added.
