Severe Weather Alert Issued Across Kazakhstan

Kazhydromet has issued a storm warning for 17 regions of Kazakhstan on December 27, forecasting a range of hazardous weather conditions across the country.

In Almaty and Konaev, fog is expected at night along with icy road conditions. The Almaty region is also forecast to experience fog, black ice, and strong winds with gusts reaching up to 18 meters per second, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

Akmola region is expected to face fog accompanied by high winds gusting between 15 and 20 meters per second. In Turkistan region, snow, ground blizzards, fog, ice, and strong winds of up to 20 meters per second are forecast.

Fog and icy conditions are expected overnight and in the morning hours in Atyrau region, while Karaganda and Pavlodar regions are likely to experience fog during the day.

Mangistau region is forecast to see rain and snow, drifting snow, icy roads, and wind gusts of 15-20 meters per second. In West Kazakhstan, snow, drifting snow, fog, strong winds, and above-normal snowfall are expected from December 27 through January 2.

Zhambyl region is also set to brace for snow, drifting snow, fog, black ice, and wind gusts of up to 20 meters per second, with heavy precipitation forecast from December 27 to January 2.
