Severe Winter Weather Warning Covers 12 Regions of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s meteorological service has issued a sweeping weather warning covering 12 regions and three major cities, as severe winter conditions are set to intensify on January 20.

Forecasters warn of fog, ice-slick roads, strong winds and severe frosts across large parts of the country. Mountainous areas of the Zhetysu and Almaty regions are expected to face heavy fog and icy conditions, making travel particularly hazardous, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Astana is forecast to see snow and ground blizzards, while Almaty city and the Atyrau region are bracing for dense fog and slippery roads. Pavlodar region is set to be hit by snow, snowstorms, fog and high winds, significantly reducing visibility.

In Turkistan region, residents are warned of ice-slick roads, fog and strong winds. Fog is also expected to blanket Kyzylorda and Zhambyl regions. Meanwhile, North Kazakhstan is forecast to experience snow, snowstorms, ground blizzards and fog.

Authorities urge drivers and residents to exercise caution and closely monitor weather updates as conditions worsen.
