A young man in southern Kazakhstan has been accused of stealing millions of tenge and gold jewelry from his own grandmother in a shocking family theft case.

The incident took place in the Sauran district of the Turkestan region, where police identified the suspect as the victim’s grandson following an investigation into a residential burglary, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Safe Broken Into While Grandmother Was Away

According to Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry, the suspect took advantage of the grandmother’s absence and broke into a safe located in her bedroom during the daytime. He stole around 3 million tenge ($6,065) in cash, along with valuable gold jewelry.

The total financial damage was estimated at approximately 7 million tenge (about $15,000), making it one of the most serious reported theft cases in the area involving family members.

Stolen Jewelry Sold After Theft
