Silk Way Star Contestants to Sing Kazakh Songs in Native Languages

In a unique cultural twist, contestants of the Silk Way Star international vocal contest will perform Kazakh songs in their own native languages, showcasing both their vocal talent and the rich heritage of Kazakhstan.

Filming of the Silk Way Star international vocal contest has begun in Kazakhstan’s Astana city, uniting performers from 12 countries, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

The competition, designed to foster creative exchange and cultural dialogue, places special emphasis on artistic detail, from musical accompaniment to stage presentation.

Contestants are striving to make their performances bright, unique, and memorable.

Launched as the first Asian vocal competition, Silk Way Star is a joint initiative of the TV and Radio Complex of the President of Kazakhstan and China Media Group (CMG). Production began on August 26, with more than 100 specialists involved in each episode, responsible for lighting, sound, video graphics, and LED screen operations.

This year’s edition features singers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and South Korea. The grand finale will take place on November 22 and will be broadcast live on Jibek Joly/Silk Way TV and major networks in participating countries.

To celebrate the launch, the Nur Alem sphere at the Astana EXPO-2017 site was illuminated in the colors of the flags of the participating nations.
