Kazakhstan’s Astana Becomes Musical Hub as “Silk Way Star” Vocal Contest Draws Regional Talent

The first-ever Asian vocal competition, “Silk Way Star,” is currently underway in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, bringing together talented performers from across the region, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, South Korea, and more.

Representing Azerbaijan is singer and actress Sabina Guluzade, a semi-finalist of The Voice of Azerbaijan, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

The competition features 10 episodes-nine pre-recorded installments leading up to a live grand finale on November 22.

Audiences can expect unique duets, renditions of national hits, and emotional stories from contestants showcasing diverse cultures. The program emphasizes intercultural collaboration, presenting music as a bridge between nations. Each episode runs over 100 minutes and will be broadcast in Kazakh, Chinese, and English.

Held in honor of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Constitution, the festival includes symbolic moments, such as participants congratulating locals at the country’s tallest flagpole and exploring “Jeti Kazyna,” the seven treasures of nomadic heritage.

The grand finale promises to be one of the year’s most spectacular musical events, airing live on Jibek Joly/Silk Way TV and other major networks in participating countries. The winner will receive the prestigious “Silk Way Star” title and the opportunity to present their talent on the global stage.
