Seoul Set to Welcome Korea–Central Asia Summit in 2026

South Korea will host the Korea-Central Asia Summit in 2026, according to a congratulatory letter from South Korean President Lee Jae Myung to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s 34th Independence Day.

In his message, Lee congratulated the Uzbek people on their national holiday and recalled a phone conversation, during which both leaders reaffirmed their strong commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The South Korean president highlighted that longstanding mutual understanding and trust have elevated relations between the two nations to the level of a “Special Strategic Partnership.” He added that active exchanges continue to reinforce friendship and cooperation between their peoples.

President Lee also expressed readiness to personally meet with President Mirziyoyev during the 2026 summit and at other international forums to pursue constructive dialogue on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.

Concluding his letter, he wished Uzbekistan peace and sustainable development, extended his best wishes for President Mirziyoyev’s health, and expressed hope for prosperity and happiness for the Uzbek people.
