President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Brussels on an official visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
A guard of honor was assembled at the airport in the Belgian capital to welcome the Kazakh leader upon his arrival, The Caspian Post reports, citing Qazinform.
President Tokayev was greeted by the European Union’s Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais, as well as other senior officials.
As part of the visit, President Tokayev is scheduled to hold high-level talks on June 23 at the headquarters of the European Council. The negotiations will involve European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The discussions are expected to focus on key areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Several important bilateral and joint documents are also expected to be signed during the visit.
