Top Energy Officials from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan Discuss New Oil and Gas Ventures

Top executives from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan’s leading energy companies have met in Astana to explore new opportunities for strategic cooperation in the oil and gas sector.

Bahodirjon Sidikov, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzbekneftegaz", and Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the Board of JSC "KazMunayGas", led the high-level discussions, which focused on expanding bilateral collaboration and advancing joint energy projects, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

A central topic of the meeting was the development of a linear alkylbenzene (LAB) production project at the Uzbekistan GTL plant. Both parties highlighted the initiative’s potential to contribute to industrial development and technological innovation in the region.

The talks also addressed prospects for joint ventures in Kazakhstan’s petrochemical sector, with both sides agreeing on the importance of involving international partners to conduct in-depth feasibility studies and ensure the effective implementation of future projects.

Another key area of discussion was the processing of hydrocarbon feedstock at Uzbekneftegaz facilities under tolling arrangements. This approach is expected to significantly enhance value-added production, stimulate domestic manufacturing, and create opportunities for broader industrial cooperation.

In addition, the two companies reaffirmed their commitment to joint geological exploration, identifying it as a priority area for long-term collaboration. Specific steps were outlined to launch and develop new exploration initiatives.

The meeting concluded with a mutual acknowledgment that the agreements reached represent a new phase in the strategic energy partnership between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Both sides expressed confidence that the outcomes will strengthen economic ties and deliver tangible benefits for both countries.
