Uzbek Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Alisher Shukurov, has met with a delegation from Valmont Irrigation, a global leader in mechanized and water-efficient irrigation solutions, to discuss expanding cooperation in the adoption of modern agricultural technologies.
The visiting delegation, led by Sergey Stefanov, Valmont’s Commercial Director for the CIS and Türkiye, explored opportunities to introduce advanced water-saving technologies into Uzbekistan’s farming sector - a strategic priority for the government amid ongoing water scarcity challenges, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
Opening the meeting, Shukurov stressed the critical role of efficient water use in sustaining agricultural productivity and ensuring food security in Uzbekistan. He reiterated the government’s strong commitment to supporting innovative solutions that promote sustainable agriculture and resource conservation.
Valmont representatives showcased the company’s latest advancements, including smart irrigation systems that allow farmers to monitor and control water usage in real-time, both on-site and remotely. These intelligent technologies aim to optimize water consumption, increase crop yields, and reduce environmental impact.
“We are entering a new era of intelligent water management,” noted Stefanov, emphasizing the potential of digital tools to transform traditional irrigation practices.
In response, Shukurov welcomed Valmont’s proposals and affirmed the Ministry of Agriculture’s readiness to support the implementation of joint projects, in line with national priorities for agricultural modernization.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to deepen collaboration and initiate concrete cooperative projects in the near future to strengthen Uzbekistan’s agricultural resilience and sustainability.
