Türkiye’s TAV Airports has acquired the remaining 15% stake in Almaty International Airport, giving the Turkish aviation group full ownership of Kazakhstan’s largest airport.

The deal was valued at $133 million. Following the completion of the transaction, TAV Airports became the airport’s sole owner, The Caspian Post reports via Interfax.

Almaty Airport continues to play a central role in Kazakhstan’s aviation sector. In 2025, it handled nearly 12 million passengers, marking a 4.5% increase from the previous year.

The airport accounts for approximately 70% of Kazakhstan’s total air passenger traffic, making it a strategically important gateway for the country and a key hub for international connections.

The acquisition gives TAV Airports full control over an airport that has seen steady passenger growth, further strengthening the Turkish company’s presence in Kazakhstan’s rapidly developing aviation market.
