Deputy Chairman of China’s State Development and Reform Commission Trade Zhou Haibin has said that turnover between Kyrgyzstan and China reached $11.5 billion in the first five months of 2025, reflecting a 48 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
He made these remarks during a meeting in Beijing with Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The talks took place as part of Minister Torobaev’s official visit to China, during which he met with senior officials from key government bodies and major Chinese corporations. A primary focus of the discussions was the advancement of strategic road infrastructure projects intended to boost regional connectivity and economic collaboration.
Zhou emphasized that the infrastructure initiative is being carried out in line with agreements previously reached between the presidents of both nations. He highlighted the project as a top priority in the context of expanding bilateral cooperation.
In 2024, trade between the two countries totaled $23 billion. The sharp rise in turnover this year signals not only stronger economic ties but also the growing significance of the Kyrgyz-Chinese partnership in Central Asia.
Reaffirming China's strategic interest in the relationship, Zhou stated that enhancing trade and economic cooperation with Kyrgyzstan remains a key objective for the Chinese government.
