EBRD Names New Regional Head for Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Nodira Mansurova as its new Regional Head for Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, marking a significant leadership transition for the Bank’s operations in Central Asia.

Mansurova will assume her new role on September 1, 2026, and will be based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. She succeeds Ayten Tustamova, who has led the EBRD’s activities in the three countries since 2021, The Caspian Post reports via ebrd.com.

Born in Uzbekistan and holding British citizenship, Mansurova brings more than 20 years of experience within the EBRD. Since joining the Bank in 2001, she has worked at its London headquarters and across multiple countries, including Egypt, Jordan and Uzbekistan, helping drive reforms, infrastructure development and private-sector growth.

Her career includes a key role as EBRD Regional Head of SME Finance and Development for Central Asia, where she was based in Almaty and focused on expanding support for small and medium-sized businesses across the region.

Most recently, Mansurova served as EBRD Head of Tunisia, where she spearheaded initiatives to accelerate renewable energy investment, promote digital transformation, strengthen the business climate and advance reforms of state-owned enterprises.

Her appointment comes as the EBRD deepens its engagement in Central Asia, a region attracting growing international attention for its economic potential, energy transition opportunities and strategic importance.

Mansurova holds honors degrees from Uzbekistan’s University of World Economy and Diplomacy and Ferghana Polytechnic University.

The leadership change also follows reports that EBRD Vice President Mark Bowman is preparing to visit Tajikistan, underscoring the Bank’s continued focus on expanding investment and development partnerships across the region.
