Kuban Adyl uulu, former Deputy General Prosecutor of Kyrgyzstan, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
He was found guilty of preparing mass unrest aimed at overthrowing the government, the Alamudun District Court ruled, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Eight other defendants were also convicted, receiving sentences ranging from 8 to 13 years in prison.
The case stems from a 2024 investigation in which authorities arrested a group planning mass unrest on November 17 - the day of local council elections. The suspects reportedly intended to organize sports events in the suburbs of Bishkek as a cover for inciting violence, promoting anti-constitutional calls, destabilizing public order, and ultimately attempting a violent seizure of power.
The Interior Ministry opened a case under the criminal code article covering “preparation for organizing mass riots involving violence, arson, destruction of property, firearms, explosives, or armed resistance against authorities.”
Seven people, including former Deputy Prosecutor Kuban Adyl uulu, were detained as part of the investigation.
