Kyrgyzstan is preparing for a major leap into the digital future.
Construction of a National Artificial Intelligence Center is set to begin in 2026, marking a pivotal step in the country’s technological transformation, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The announcement was made by Nursultan Kubanov, First Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies.
More Than Just a Building
Kubanov noted that the National AI Center will not simply be a new facility. It is envisioned as a full-scale laboratory and technology hub - integrating IT development, research and innovation, and serving as a base for large-scale artificial intelligence projects.
The center is expected to:
Create conditions for Kyrgyz IT professionals abroad to return home
Attract international technology companies
Provide a powerful platform for training the next generation of specialists
First International IT College on the Way
In parallel, Kyrgyzstan has signed an agreement to establish its first international IT college. The institution is expected to become a key pillar in preparing skilled professionals for both government agencies and the private sector.
“This will be a powerful platform for education, professional development, and unlocking the potential of our citizens,” Kubanov said, emphasizing that Kyrgyzstan aims to become an active participant in global AI processes.
A Strategic Digital Bet
The project is being implemented under an investment agreement, with preparatory work already underway this year. If successful, the AI center and IT college could position Kyrgyzstan as an emerging digital hub in Central Asia - boosting innovation, attracting global partnerships, and strengthening the country’s competitiveness in the fast-growing AI economy.
