Tynchtyk Shainazarov, head of the Kyrgyz Central Election Commission, has announced that the first meeting of the eighth convocation of Jogorku Kenesh (the Kyrgyz parliament) will take place on December 17.
The CEC has registered 87 MPs from 29 constituencies. During the session, MPs will receive their credentials, elect the parliamentary speaker and vice-speakers, and may form parliamentary groups or factions, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Early parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan were held on November 30, with 460 candidates contesting the vote.
