Timur Malbashev, Director of the Kyrgyz State Agency for Property Management, has announced that the Kyrgyz government is actively reclaiming previously privatized properties and land parcels to repurpose them for public benefit.
One notable example is a property on Zhibek Zholu Avenue in Bishkek, formerly owned by ex-president Kurmanbek Bakiyev. The building has been returned to state ownership and converted into a rehabilitation center for children with disabilities, providing essential treatment and recovery services to thousands, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Another property linked to the Bakiyev family, located on Skryabin Street, has also been reclaimed by the state. It now features mortgage-financed apartment buildings that offer housing to hundreds of families.
Malbashev also confirmed a court ruling for the return of a land plot in Koi-Tash village, where former president Almazbek Atambayev’s residence is situated. The government plans to construct a modern nursing home on this site to relocate elderly residents from aging facilities in Bishkek and Ysyk-Ata district. Additionally, a new kindergarten with a capacity for 500 children from Koi-Tash and neighboring villages-including Arashan, Tash-Moinok, Tatyr, and Prokhladnoye-will be established to alleviate the current need for families to send their children to schools in Bishkek.
Construction on these projects is expected to begin soon and is slated for completion by next year. Meanwhile, the existing nursing home site in Bishkek will be redeveloped into mortgage-financed housing to further support local residents.
