Kyrgyzstan Considers Temporary Ban on Imported Gypsum Products

The Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers has opened public discussion on a draft resolution proposing a six-month temporary ban on certain imported gypsum products, including tiles, sheets, panels, and unornamented tiles reinforced only with paper or cardboard.

Under the proposal, imports of these products by road transport would be prohibited, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Commerce is tasked with notifying the World Trade Organization and the Eurasian Economic Commission at least three days before the ban takes effect.

The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry must inform the CIS Executive Committee, while the State Customs and Border Service are responsible for preventing illegal imports.

If approved, the regulation will enter into force 15 days after official publication.
