Kyrgyz-Uzbek Energy Partnership Heats Up with Sharp Rise in Coal Trade

Kyrgyzstan significantly boosted its coal exports to Uzbekistan in the first four months of 2025, according to the National Statistical Committee-reflecting deepening energy cooperation between the two Central Asian neighbors.

The coal shipments rose by 63 per cent compared to the same period last year, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Between January and April, Kyrgyzstan exported 383,000 tons of bituminous coal to Uzbekistan, generating over $17.6 million in revenue. During the same period in 2024, the volume stood at 235,000 tons, valued at $9.9 million.
