The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has issued guidance for citizens currently in Iran or planning to travel there amid ongoing disruptions to international flights.
Most airlines have reduced or temporarily suspended flights to and from Iran, with schedules frequently changing, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Citizens unable to depart by air can travel overland through neighboring countries:
Visa-free entry: Armenia and Türkiye
Entry to Turkmenistan: Contact the Kyrgyz embassy for a permit and transit visa
Checkpoints open as of Jan 16, 2026: Iranian borders with Afghanistan and Iraq (visas required in advance)
Land borders with Pakistan and Azerbaijan remain closed, so travelers are urged to consider alternative routes.
Citizens needing assistance leaving Iran should provide:
Full name and contact info
Passport bio page photo
Intended border crossing point
Those planning to travel to Iran are advised to postpone trips until the situation stabilizes.
