Kyrgyzstan Advises Citizens to Avoid Travel to Iran

The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has issued guidance for citizens currently in Iran or planning to travel there amid ongoing disruptions to international flights.

Most airlines have reduced or temporarily suspended flights to and from Iran, with schedules frequently changing, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Citizens unable to depart by air can travel overland through neighboring countries:

Visa-free entry: Armenia and Türkiye

Entry to Turkmenistan: Contact the Kyrgyz embassy for a permit and transit visa

Checkpoints open as of Jan 16, 2026: Iranian borders with Afghanistan and Iraq (visas required in advance)

Land borders with Pakistan and Azerbaijan remain closed, so travelers are urged to consider alternative routes.
