Kyrgyzstan Aims for Glory at World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships

From September 13 to 21, Zagreb will host the World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships, with Kyrgyzstan sending a full squad to contend for 10 medal sets.

The squad will compete with some notable lineup changes. Akzhol Makhmudov, reigning world champion in the 77 kg category, will miss the event, with Bekzat Orunkul uulu stepping in as his replacement, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

World champion Zholaman Sharshenbekov, previously competing in the 60 kg category, will test himself in a new weight division - 63 kg. In addition, Amantur Ismailov (72 kg) will make his return to the national team following the Paris Olympic Games.
