Exit Polls Put Pashinyan’s Party Ahead in Armenia’s Parliamentary Vote

Polling stations across Armenia have officially closed, bringing voting to an end in the country’s parliamentary elections.

Citizens who were already waiting in line at polling stations when voting hours ended will still be allowed to cast their ballots, according to election procedures, The Caspian Post reports via Interfax.

The election day was also marked by law enforcement activity. Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee reported the detention of several dozen individuals linked to opposition groups on allegations of election-related offenses.

Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, is leading the country’s parliamentary election with 56.7% of the vote.

The survey indicates a significant advantage for Pashinyan’s party as Armenians await the official results from the Central Electoral Commission.

According to the exit poll, the Strong Armenia party, linked to Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, is in second place with 17.5% of the vote.
