Kyrgyzstan intends to attract USD20 billion in investment funds in ski tourism, the Tourism Development Support Fund said.
Kyrgyzstan has enormous potential for the development of ski tourism, more than 90 percent of the country's territory is occupied by mountains, these are unique conditions for the creation of modern ski resorts, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
“The Kyrgyz Republic has a unique potential for the development of ski tourism, which can bring the country more than USD 20 billion in investments. This data was announced by representatives of the Tourism Development Support Fund following a recent working trip to Europe. During the visit, memorandums were signed with leading global companies, which opened up new horizons for the development of ski resort infrastructure in the country.
The geographical advantage of the Kyrgyz Republic is ideal for ski tourism due to its geographical location - more than 90% of the country's territory is occupied by mountains, which makes the country a natural resort for winter recreation. Among the countries of Central Asia, the Kyrgyz Republic has the greatest potential for the development of ski clusters.
Currently, the country has already begun implementing a large-scale project, such as the Three Peaks resort, and year-round resorts Tosor, Baytik Resort and Chatkal Resort are planned and are in the process of being agreed upon with investors. These resorts can attract several billion dollars in investments, but the country's real potential is much higher.
According to a preliminary assessment based on the results of the visit and study of the experience of leading European countries, the Kyrgyz Republic has the potential to create up to 30-40 ski resorts," the report said.
