Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan Conduct Joint Fire Drills

Joint exercises focused on reducing the impact of natural disasters were conducted in Kyrgyzstan’s Chui region and Kazakhstan’s Jambyl region.

The drills brought together personnel and resources from both countries to simulate firefighting response efforts, The Caspian Post reports citing AKIpress.

The primary location for the exercises was a border section at kilometer 33 of the Bishkek - Naryn - Torugart highway, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reported. This area is a forested landscape divided by the Chui River, which marks the border between the two nations.

The exercise plan involved a forest fire spreading to a gas station in Kyrgyzstan, subsequently engulfing trees around a road service enterprise. To combat this simulated fire, Kyrgyzstan deployed 5 fire engines, 1 mobile training vehicle, 1 mobile command post, and approximately 10 employees from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' forestry service in Chui region.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs' Road Safety Service provided emergency assistance. 2 fire engines and 1 mobile command post were involved from Kazakhstan's Jambyl Regional Department for Emergency Situations. A motor pump was set up on the Chui River to ensure an uninterrupted water supply for vehicles during firefighting operations in the area.

The ability to swiftly organize firefighting efforts during these annual exercises allowed for a proper analysis of the terrain, including reconnaissance, and the organized execution of firefighting actions. This also served to enhance the experience of the participating personnel.
