Kyrgyzstan sharply increased its coffee imports from Russia during the first five months of 2026, with shipments more than tripling compared to the same period last year.

Between January and May, Kyrgyzstan imported 319.9 tonnes of coffee from Russia worth $3.05 million, up from 94.9 tonnes valued at $1.08 million during the corresponding period in 2025, The Caspian Post reports via TASS.

Russia remained Kyrgyzstan's largest coffee supplier, accounting for 64.7% of the country's total coffee imports. Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 493.8 tonnes of coffee worth $5.53 million during the five-month period.

Imports of coffee, tea, and maté extracts from Russia also rose modestly. From January to May, Russia exported 119.4 tonnes of these products to Kyrgyzstan, valued at $1.58 million, compared with 109.4 tonnes worth $1.04 million a year earlier.

Overall, Russian exports to Kyrgyzstan reached $1.39 billion in the first five months of 2026, representing 25.8% of the country's total imports during the period, underscoring Russia's position as one of Kyrgyzstan's leading trading partners.
