Kyrgyzstan Breaks New Ground with First-Ever Gold Export to Malaysia

The Kyrgyz National Statistical Committee has announced that for the first time on record, Kyrgyzstan exported gold to Malaysia.

Some 50 kilograms of Kyrgyz gold were shipped to Malaysia in early 2025, marking a new destination in the country’s growing portfolio of export markets, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

In addition to Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan also exported gold to the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Türkiye during the first five months of the year, signaling a strategic diversification of export geography.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan reduced its national gold reserves by 3.85 tons in the first quarter of 2025. As of April 1, the country’s total holdings amounted to 34.27 tons of gold.

This development comes as Kyrgyzstan strengthens its role in global markets, having recently been named among the top three gold-exporting countries in the world.
