A senior official responsible for combating corruption in Kyrgyzstan has himself been detained on corruption charges, in a development that has drawn widespread attention.
The Kyrgyz Military Prosecutor’s Office arrested the head of the sixth Directorate of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security in Bishkek, known by the nickname “Grudak.” He is suspected of involvement in corruption-related offenses, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
By decision of the Pervomaisky District Court, the official - identified by the initials A.T. - has been placed in pre-trial detention until April 15.
The sixth Directorate of the State Committee for National Security is specifically tasked with anti-corruption operations, making the case particularly striking as it involves a high-ranking figure within the structure responsible for investigating graft.
