Kyrgyzstan exported 16.1 tons of gold valued at $1.26 billion in January-November 2024, according to the country's National Statistics Committee.
This figure is 4% more by weight and 30% more by gold value than in 2023, when 15.4 tons worth $972 million were exported, The Caspian Post reports citing Akipress.
The leader in purchasing Kyrgyz gold is the United Kingdom, which accounts for 82% of all gold exports from Kyrgyzstan.
The United Kingdom purchased 13.3 tons of gold for more than $1 billion. On average, Kyrgyzstan supplied gold to the United Kingdom at a price of $80.4 million per ton.
Kyrgyzstan actively exported gold to China at the beginning of 2024. However, the situation changed in April, when supplies to the United Kingdom resumed. After this, gold exports to the UAE, China and Switzerland ceased.
