Kyrgyzstan’s taekwondo team has delivered an outstanding performance at the ITF Taekwondo Championship held in Barcelona, Spain winning a total of 38 medals.
The championship featured 2,000 athletes from 40 countries, with Kyrgyzstan fielding a strong team of 29 competitors, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
In a historic achievement, Iskak Askarbekov (under 70 kg) and Radomir Mikhailov (under 76 kg) became the first Kyrgyz athletes to win gold medals in adult sparring at the event.
Led by head coach Eduard Khegai, Kyrgyzstan’s medal haul included:
15 gold medals
4 silver medals
19 bronze medals
This remarkable success ranks among the best performances by Kyrgyzstan in the international ITF taekwondo arena.
