Kyrgyzstan to Launch First-Ever Carpet Factory with Azerbaijan-Backed Investment

The Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund and Kyrgyz company Orion Grand have signed an investment agreement to establish Kyrgyzstan’s first modern carpet production facility.

The project, valued at $3.2 million, aims to launch domestic manufacturing of carpets, a first for the country, which has until now relied entirely on imports for such products. Of the total investment, $1 million will be financed by the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund, The Caspian Post informs via the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

Officials say the initiative will help substitute imports, create new jobs, and enhance the industrial capacity of Kyrgyzstan.

In addition to serving the local market, the new facility will focus on exporting to nearby countries, including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, and other regional markets.
