Kyrgyzstan is taking a major step toward becoming a logistics hub linking Europe and Asia, as Chinese logistics giant ZTO Express discusses launching a new international cargo route through Manas International Airport.
According to Airports of Kyrgyzstan, the project would establish a multimodal transport corridor for shipments traveling from China to Europe via Kyrgyzstan, The Caspian Post reports via 24.kg.
Under the proposed plan, cargo will be transported by road from China into Kyrgyzstan, processed and transferred at Manas International Airport, and then flown to destinations across Europe.
The new route is expected to shorten delivery times between Asia and Europe, improve the efficiency of international supply chains, increase air cargo volumes, attract additional transit traffic, and create new jobs.
Airports of Kyrgyzstan noted that the country's recent removal from the European Union's aviation safety list has become an important factor in expanding cooperation with international logistics companies.
Chairman of the Board Manasbek Samidinov said the development of air cargo services remains one of the company's top strategic priorities as Kyrgyzstan seeks to strengthen its position in Eurasian trade.
