Montenegro Expands Central Asia Ties with New Consulate in Kyrgyzstan

Montenegro has taken a major step to deepen its presence in Central Asia, officially opening an Honorary Consulate in Kyrgyzstan during a high-level diplomatic visit.

The launch came as part of Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović’s official trip, with the ceremony attended by government officials, a Montenegrin delegation, and members of Kyrgyzstan’s business community, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Newly appointed Honorary Consul Beknazar Asanov outlined an ambitious agenda, placing economic cooperation at the heart of the mission. Plans are already underway to boost trade ties, attract investment, and create new business opportunities between the two nations.

A major bilateral business forum could be on the horizon, alongside discussions about launching direct flights-a move that could significantly enhance tourism and commercial exchange. With Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan already connected to Montenegro, similar routes for Kyrgyzstan are seen as a logical next step.

Montenegro is also eyeing investment opportunities in Kyrgyzstan’s growing sectors, including small hydropower projects, construction, and manufacturing-areas expected to drive future cooperation.
